The Association of British Insurers (ABI) collects data from motor insurers. Whilst members have free access, non-members must pay a subscription fee to access the data. Access the Association of British Insurers website here.

The Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) manage the Motor Insurance Database (MID) that is the central record of all insured vehicles in the UK. It is used by the Police and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to enforce motor insurance laws.  Public access to check your own or someone else’s vehicle insurance status is available through the website, via the link here.
